The choir organs of the church of Ottobeuren Abbey
Preselection | Search by keywords | Overview

The two choir organs (1762/1766) built by Karl Joseph Riepp in the Benedictine abbey of Ottobeuren fit perfectly into the choir stalls. The photograph shows the Hl.Geist-organ
(organ named after the Holy Spirit)

A view of the Trinity organ and its balcony.

The organs of Karl Joseph Riepp have undergone a number of interventions in the course of history. The Greifenberger Institute has started a preliminary investigation, during which stock is being taken and will be reassessed in view of archival material.

Photos obtained with the endoscope allow a first glimpse into pipe manufacturing of the organ builder Karl Joseph Riepp. Transformations can be detected when more imagery becomes available. A truly exciting project!
