... refers to the process of extracting the construction elements from an existing finished system or product by examining its structures, states, and behaviors. From the finished object, a plan is thus created again. In contrast to a functional imitation (the usual reproduction), reverse engineering aims to represent the existing object as accurately as possible and to reveal its manufacturing process.
